BYU dug a deep hole in the first half and its rally fell short in a 90-82 loss at then-No. 14 Kansas on Saturday. Richie Saunders finished with 33 points and 10 rebounds in the loss while Robert Wright III posted 18 points and six assists and freshman AJ Dybantsa added 17 points. The Cougars trailed by 20 at the break, getting back to within four with 1:27 left before the Jayhawks iced the game, dropping BYU to 5-3 in Big 12 Conference play.
Oklahoma State turned up the defensive heat in the second half to roll to an 81-69 victory at Utah that ended a two-game losing slide and improved the Cowboys to 3-5 in the Big 12. Anthony Roy poured in 26 points in the win, with Christian Coleman going for 14 points and 10 rebounds and Parsa Fallah scoring 13 points.
The Cougars have beaten the Cowboys the last two times they’ve played to take a 6-4 lead in the all-time series. Dybantsa leads the Big 12 with an average of 23.3 points, with Saunders putting up 19.5 points and 2.0 steals per game and Wright posting 17.5 points and 5.2 assists a night. Keba Keita grabs 7.8 rebounds per contest as well. Roy nets an average of 17.5 points for Oklahoma State while Fallah gets 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
